Everything Is Louder In the Dark

Author's Note: Part of Writer's Month 2019, day 5 - word prompt: sound. An alternate version of Un and Two during the power cut in episode 10. What do you mean this isn't what happened?

Un hated the dark. He hated how he reacted even more, panicking and stumbling around like a complete idiot, especially since this was nothing more dangerous than a power failure. Still, he couldn't stop his heart from racing, nor his body from breaking into cold sweat, the darkness closing in on him like a soundless blanket. So when someone suddenly gripped him from behind, he cried out in complete terror.

"Calm down, it's me." Two's familiar voice broke through the fog of Un's panic, and Un realised he was being held upright by the younger man in a strange reversal of that time in the lake. His stomach fluttered in a way that had nothing to do with fear, a sensation that only increased the longer they remained like this, faces only inches apart.

"Why are you helping me?" Despite himself, Un's eyes flicked down to Two's lips.

He desperately tried to think of an explanation for the way Two wasn't moving away but kept staring at him as if they were flies trapped in amber that didn't get his hopes up. It didn't help at all when Two finally replied uncertainly, "I don't know."

His voice was rough, curling around Un and leaving goosebumps in its wake, and he couldn't help but lick his lips nervously. Two caught the movement and exhaled sharply, mirroring the gesture. The next moment they were both swaying forward, the sound of their lips meeting seeming very loud in the silence of the theatre.

It started out slow, tentative, but like a dam breaking, years of suppressed emotions on Un's part rushed through him, and he pulled Two closer, drinking him in like a thirsty man in the desert. Two didn't remain passive either, tightening his hold on Un and giving as good as he got, as if there was nothing in the world he wanted more than to kiss Un and be kissed by him.

"Two?!" The shocked female voice cut through the bubble they'd created, and they jumped apart abruptly. Lyn was standing at the top of the stairs, her phone's torch slicing through the darkness.

"Lyn..." Two sounded shell-shocked. Wordlessly, Lyn turned on her heel and quickly left the auditorium. After one last agonised backwards glance, Two followed his girlfriend, leaving Un alone in the dark.

He barely noticed, the sound of Two walking away from him echoing in his ears.
